Woody Kay
Managing Partner / ECD
“It’s not a wig, really.”
“Getting to the Truth Factor” is the way Print magazine described Woody Kay’s creative philosophy. As a designer, art director and creative director, Woody has built his career on making the truth appealing for clients like Amtrak, The Islands of The Bahamas, BlueCross BlueShield, Brown-Forman, Cannondale Bicycles and Choice Hotels International.
Woody joined Arnold in 2002 as Chief Creative Officer at Arnold DC. But he never set out to be an ad guy. After attending Vanderbilt University to become a doctor, he ended up with an English degree and a job on “Hee Haw” as a cue card boy. Figuring that was the pinnacle of his writing career, he returned to school at Rhode Island School of Design to study art.
After graduation, Woody designed everything from textbooks to identity programs at Malcolm Grear Designers, working with clients as diverse as the Guggenheim Museum and the Department of Health and Human Services. He moved into advertising at Leonard Monahan Saabye, and was a founding partner of the Providence and Boston creative agency Pagano Schenck & Kay and the interactive agency Circle.
Woody has received recognition at all the major awards shows, including the ADDYs, CLIOs, Communication Arts, Cannes and The One Show, and has received the 4A’s O’Toole A+ Award for "agency body of work" at two different agencies. A two-time Adweek magazine Creative All-Star, he has also served on the Board of Directors of The One Club for Art and Copy.
